Minister of Industry, Ferid Belkacem, presented his sector's 2027 budget proposal to the Finance and Budget Committee of the National People's Assembly. With 7.13 billion dinars in commitment authorizations and 40.54 billion dinars in payment credits, the budget prioritizes the completion of ongoing operations over launching new projects. The ministry's 2027-2029 strategy centers on industrial competitiveness, investment support, and general administration, aiming for measurable growth. Key objectives include developing 738.5 hectares of industrial land, strengthening industrial integration, and supporting SMEs. To lower production costs and encourage local manufacturing, the government is introducing customs and VAT exemptions for raw materials imported by mechanical and electronic industry subcontractors. During the session, deputies engaged with the minister regarding ongoing challenges, including industrial property management, vehicle manufacturing, and the regulatory frameworks governing small and medium-sized enterprises.
