A 37-year-old man has surrendered to police headquarters in Toulouse after spending about a month in Algeria, his country of birth. He had been a fugitive since cutting off his electronic monitoring bracelet. The suspect was also under investigation following a complaint filed by a 27-year-old woman, who passed away in mid-September, accusing him of kidnapping and physical assault earlier that month. During a search of his residence, investigators discovered a handgun and 125 grams of heroin. The man denies the allegations regarding the violence and the seized substances. However, he admitted to removing his electronic monitoring device, an act considered as escape under the penal code. He has since been placed in custody and faces immediate trial proceedings.
