New reading and film support commission installed in Algeria

The Minister of Culture and Arts, Malika Bendouda, has officially installed the new reading and film support commission at the National Cinema Center in Algiers. This move is part of a broader effort to build a robust national film industry. Writer Maïssa Bey was appointed as the head of the commission, marking the first time a woman has held this position. During the event, the Minister emphasized the need for objectivity and transparency when evaluating scripts, urging members to support projects that highlight Algeria's cultural and historical richness. She further called for a production strategy that promotes creative diversity, including comedies, to better align with public interests and improve the global standing of Algerian cinema.
