The Algerian Ministry of Trade has expanded its inspection efforts directly to manufacturing sites and agricultural farms to control inflation before products hit the retail market. Approximately 9,000 inspectors are currently deployed nationwide to track the supply chain from its source. Field teams are examining production levels, inventory stocks, and distribution rates, focusing on essential goods like milk, oil, and vegetables, particularly potatoes. In the Constantine province, separate quality control operations resulted in the seizure and destruction of over 24 tons of food products deemed unfit for consumption. This national initiative aims to identify the root causes of price hikes and ensure transparency in commercial transactions, thereby protecting consumer purchasing power.
