Algeria moves towards building a fully integrated automotive industry
During a working visit to Oum El Bouaghi, Minister of Industry Farid Kourtel announced that Algeria is progressing toward establishing an integrated automotive manufacturing sector. The country currently supports 200 domestic companies producing spare parts, engine oils, and various vehicle components, with a focus on strictly adhering to quality standards. To support this growth, authorities are developing a comprehensive database of local subcontractors to connect them with vehicle assembly plants. During his tour, the Minister inaugurated several new facilities, including plants for automotive filters, lubricants, brake pads, and a private investment-backed plastic processing unit for the pharmaceutical industry.
