Algerian parallel currency market: Euro rises as Dollar holds steady
Foreign currencies remain strong on Algeria's informal exchange market. This Friday, the euro climbed to 277 dinars, reflecting a half-dinar increase since the beginning of the week. Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar remained stable at 240 dinars, a level last seen earlier this year. Despite the euro's depreciation in international markets, the local black market remains unaffected, driven primarily by domestic demand. Conversely, official rates from the Bank of Algeria show an opposite trend, with the euro falling to 151.10 dinars and the dollar rising slightly to 134.61 dinars. The discrepancy between the official and parallel rates remains substantial, widening to approximately 126 dinars for one euro.
