Officials from the Confederation of African Football are set to gather in Cairo at the end of October for a training workshop. This initiative aims to prepare referees for the group stages of the 2026-2027 CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup. The training will focus specifically on the implementation of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system, which is scheduled to be utilized starting from the group stages in November. The initiative seeks to standardize officiating procedures across the continent's top club tournaments. The first round of the group stage is scheduled for November 27-29, following the conclusion of the second preliminary rounds taking place throughout October.
