Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mohamed Arkab, has ruled out any current plans to increase electricity prices. Presenting the sector's proposed budget for 2027 to the National People's Assembly's Finance Committee, the minister stated that the 123.4 billion dinar budget will primarily support grid expansion, particularly in isolated regions, and the transition to renewable energy sources.
Arkab highlighted current national coverage rates, which stand at 99% for electricity and 80% for gas. Key strategic objectives for the coming years include enhancing digitalization, strengthening cybersecurity for energy infrastructure, and job creation, with plans to hire 4,000 new staff by 2029. The ministry remains committed to promoting energy efficiency and supporting sustainable national development.
