The French government has introduced a partial curfew in Paris and several northern cities for Monday and Tuesday nights. The measure is intended to contain the violence that erupted during protests over the weekend. According to the office of Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, the curfew will be in effect from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Additional restrictions apply to the Place de la République and the business district in central Paris starting at 10:00 PM, while the city of Nice has imposed a curfew for minors from 9:00 PM. Lecornu stated that these targeted actions aim to protect shops following recent civil unrest. While he did not rule out the possibility of declaring a state of emergency if necessary, he noted that a curfew remains the most appropriate response at this stage.
