Gendarmerie issues public alert regarding fraud scheme targeting migrants
The Algiers Territorial Group of the National Gendarmerie has issued a call for witnesses regarding two individuals suspected of fraud and money laundering. The suspects allegedly operate a criminal network targeting Algerian migrants in France by promising them fraudulent currency exchange services. The scheme involves convincing victims to hand over Algerian dinars within the country, under the false pretense that they will receive the equivalent in euros while abroad. Once the funds are collected, the suspects cease all communication and disappear. The Gendarmerie is urging anyone who has been a victim or has information about these suspects to contact the prosecutor's office at the Dar El Beïda court, or any local Gendarmerie or police station to file a complaint or provide a statement.
