A trial took place at the Chéraga court this Monday involving three residential security guards from western Algiers, accused of collective theft following a burglary in a sixth-floor apartment. The defendants firmly denied the allegations against them during the hearing. The defense highlighted significant gaps in the investigation, noting that neither forensic evidence nor surveillance camera footage linked the guards to the crime. The defense also pointed out inconsistencies in the victim's statement regarding the timeline of the incident, arguing that the case against the men is based solely on suspicion. While the defense requested acquittal, the prosecutor requested a two-year prison sentence and a 100,000 dinar fine. The ruling is scheduled for October 27.
