President Tebboune highlights Algeria's economic progress and industrial ambitions

During an address to economic operators, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced that Algeria's economic growth rate has reached 3.9%, outperforming several major nations. Highlighting industrial progress, he noted that domestic medicine production now covers 84% of needs, up from 10% five years ago. Regarding energy, Algeria has not imported gasoline since 2023 and has generated a surplus of kerosene for export. The President also recalled that in 2017, the country spent $750 million importing ketchup and mayonnaise, whereas it now exports these goods. He further outlined the goal of producing a fully Algerian-made vehicle by 2028, reaffirming that the nation currently stands as the third-largest economy in Africa.
