Chéraga: Prison sentences for livestock theft after drugging the guard

The Chéraga court has handed down two-year prison sentences and a 200,000 DZD fine to three individuals involved in the theft of 11 sheep. The incident occurred on May 24, 2025, when the perpetrators drugged the farm's guard by spiking his tea with a sedative, enabling them to steal livestock valued at approximately 126 million centimes. Phone records showing intensive communication between the suspects during the night of the crime were central to the court's verdict. The court also ordered the convicted individuals to pay 800,000 DZD in damages to each of the two victims.
