During the presentation of the 2027 Draft Finance Bill to the National People's Assembly, Finance Minister Mohammed Lamine Lebbou outlined key budget allocations aimed at supporting consumer purchasing power. Total social transfers are estimated at $18.5 billion (2.41 trillion DA). Of this, 717.7 billion DA is dedicated to subsidizing essential goods, with 355.84 billion DA specifically for cereals, alongside support for milk, desalinated water, energy, and staples like coffee and oil. Employment initiatives are set to receive 368 billion DA, including 210 billion DA for unemployment benefits, though this figure does not imply an increase in individual payments. Additionally, the government has earmarked 395.88 billion DA to bolster economic activity, with a further 50 billion DA reserved for struggling public economic enterprises. The housing sector also receives significant attention with a budget exceeding 520 billion DA. These figures, part of a 17.88 trillion DA total spending plan, are subject to final legislative approval.
