Algeria establishes a permanent committee to oversee import operations

Algeria has formally introduced a new body, the Permanent Committee for Monitoring and Processing Import Requests, following an executive decree signed by Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb. The committee is chaired by the Minister of Foreign Trade and includes key figures from the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Algeria, the banking association ABEF, and the economic council CREA. Its mandate involves reviewing import applications, particularly those related to operational production needs, while prioritizing sensitive goods essential for market supply. Additionally, the committee is tasked with proposing measures to streamline import processes and conducting regular assessments of data collected from the digital registration platform.
