The Criminal Court of the Algiers Judicial Council handed down death sentences on Sunday to two defendants involved in the illegal importation and trade of synthetic drugs. The case involved 144 kilograms of illicit substances, representing approximately 235,000 ecstasy tablets. The court based its ruling on Law No. 25-03, enacted on July 1, 2025, which pertains to the prevention and suppression of the illicit use and trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances.
