Juan Jesús Vivas, the mayor of Ceuta, has accused Morocco of being the primary actor behind the surge in irregular migration that hit the city on July 30 and 31. Reporting on his statements, Spanish media noted that Vivas described the event as a premeditated operation intended to threaten the city's stability, citing the proximity of Moroccan warships during the influx. In response to these pressures, the official has called for an increased role for the EU border agency, Frontex. Furthermore, he urged for the expedited repatriation of approximately 3,300 unaccompanied minors currently straining the city's reception facilities. The circumstances surrounding this mass arrival remain the subject of an ongoing judicial investigation led by Judge María Tardón.
