Air Algérie has officially received its sixth Airbus A330-900neo as part of a ten-aircraft order aimed at upgrading and renewing the national carrier's fleet. The new aircraft has been named 'Ras el Afia' after the iconic lighthouse in the city of Jijel, a tribute chosen in the wake of the tragic wildfires that affected the region in late August. This naming follows the tradition of previous aircraft, such as 'November 54' and 'Yennayer,' which carry symbolic national significance. With four more Airbus A330-900neo jets scheduled for delivery, the airline is positioning itself to expand its long-haul network across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. The fleet modernization program also features additional orders for Boeing 737 Max aircraft and ATR 72-600s for its domestic operations.
