European football federations criticize FIFA's international break schedule

European football officials have voiced strong dissatisfaction with FIFA’s new international calendar, which mandates 16-day breaks featuring four consecutive matches. During a meeting in Berlin, the system was labeled a disaster. The UEFA intends to gather feedback from member associations to formally petition FIFA for a review of this format, which combines the September and October windows. Despite the backlash, the schedule remains set until 2030. Coaches such as Niko Kovac have criticized the negative impact on club competition momentum, noting that the extended absence of players often leads to injuries, a concern highlighted by recent physical issues for stars like Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland.
