During the Energy Week in Riyadh, Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, met with Iraqi Oil Minister, Basem Mohammed Khudair Al-Abadi, to explore ways to deepen energy collaboration. The talks focused on fostering joint investments between Sonatrach and Iraqi oil firms across the hydrocarbon value chain, covering exploration, field development, and the petrochemical and fertilizer industries. The two sides also discussed sharing technical expertise to optimize production, reduce emissions, and improve energy efficiency, with Iraq showing interest in Algeria's experience in processing associated gas. Furthermore, both ministers emphasized the importance of continued cooperation within OPEC and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum to ensure stable global energy markets.
