A Guide to Family Allowances and Schooling Benefits in Algeria

In Algeria, the National Social Insurance Fund (CNAS) manages family allowances and annual schooling bonuses for employees. The monthly allowance is generally 300 DA per child, increasing to 600 DA for families with incomes up to 15,000 DA. These benefits are available until a child reaches 17, or up to 21 for those in education, apprenticeship, or suffering from a disability. To apply, workers must submit a file including a specific form, civil status records, and salary certificates. It is important to distinguish these CNAS payments from the special schooling allowance of 5,000 DA provided by the Ministry of National Solidarity. The latter is intended for low-income households and is processed through schools and the Social Development Agency (ADS).
