The wilaya of Jijel is focusing on scaling up its banana production by identifying new suitable cultivation sites. A strategic meeting involving local authorities and experts from the Ministries of Agriculture and Higher Education was held to assess agricultural land potential. Currently, the region hosts 20 hectares of banana crops across 25 private projects utilizing multi-span greenhouse technology. To enhance output, local investors are adopting tissue culture techniques. The local Chamber of Agriculture emphasizes the region's readiness to expand this sector, citing favorable microclimatic conditions and increasing technical expertise.
