Road Infrastructure: Algeria Launches Major Expansion and Modernization Projects Across 8 Provinces
As part of the 2026 development agenda, the Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure has initiated significant construction projects across eight Algerian provinces. Directed by Minister Abdelkader Djellaoui in cooperation with local authorities, the effort focuses on expanding, upgrading, and twinning major national roads, alongside enhancing airport facilities. Key infrastructure improvements are underway in eastern provinces such as Souk Ahras, Skikda, Guelma, Batna, and El M'Ghair, involving asphalt paving and road duplication. Regional connectivity is also being strengthened in Bejaia, through tunnel renovations in Kherrata, as well as in Oran and Bouira with road modernization projects. Additionally, maintenance work on the airport runway in Ghardaïa has been successfully completed to ensure safer air transport operations.
