The 8th edition of the Assia Djebar Grand Prize for the novel took place this Saturday at the International Conference Center in Algiers. Held under the patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune with the theme "In memory, the roots of tomorrow," the event honored three writers for their contributions in Arabic, Amazigh, and French. Sarah Mohamed Maarich received the award for her Arabic novel "Al-Rafraf," while Farida Sahoui won for her Amazigh-language work "Aghous," and Hosni Kitouni was honored for his French novel "Ce que la mort m’a pris de toi." A jury of ten experts evaluated the submissions, and a new official trophy for the award was unveiled during the ceremony, continuing a tradition established in 2015 to honor the legacy of Assia Djebar.
