Constantine: Rehabilitation works underway for the new Sidi M'cid elevator

The rehabilitation project for the Sidi M'cid elevator in Constantine is officially underway, with current efforts focused on removing old emergency stairs. Supported by a 7.5 billion centime budget from the municipality, the project, initiated last May, is expected to conclude by December. The new cabin will accommodate 31 passengers and support a load of 3 tons. Utilizing advanced synchronous motor technology, the elevator will travel 153 meters in just one minute at a speed of 2.5 meters per second, connecting Sidi M'cid to Yougoslavie Street. This new system is set to improve daily commutes for local residents and enhance the tourist experience by providing access to several historical and archaeological landmarks in the area.
