Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Lakhdar Rakhroukh, held a coordination meeting to finalize arrangements for the start of construction on the Algeria-Tamanrasset railway. The session involved representatives from the national railway infrastructure agency, contractors, and consulting firms to assess readiness for key sections, including the routes from Laghouat to Ghardaïa, Ghardaïa to El Menia, and segments stretching to Tamanrasset and Moulay Lahcen. Discussions focused on optimizing the deployment of human and material resources and resolving field challenges. The Minister emphasized the urgency of completing preparations to launch this strategic project, which is expected to bolster rail connectivity and stimulate economic development in Algeria’s southern regions.
