The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that 466 people have died due to malnutrition and starvation since the start of 2024. Marking World Food Day, the ministry highlighted a humanitarian catastrophe, noting that the toll includes 157 children and 189 elderly individuals. Medical records reveal that over 158,000 children under five have suffered from acute malnutrition, and anemia among pregnant women has surged to 61%. Officials warned that two-thirds of the total population may face severe food crises by the end of 2026. Given the ongoing military operations and strikes, the ministry has called upon the international community and the United Nations to intervene immediately to ensure the sustainable and unrestricted delivery of food and medical supplies to the besieged territory.
