Currency exchange in Algeria: slight decline for the Euro on the informal market

On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the Algerian black market for foreign currencies saw the Euro settle between 276 and 276.5 DZD for sale, marking a minor decrease compared to the previous day's rate of 277 DZD. Meanwhile, the US Dollar is being traded at 240 DZD for sale and 230 DZD for purchase. These informal market rates, which fluctuate based on local demand, remain significantly higher than official figures provided by the Bank of Algeria. The official exchange rates are set at 150.99 DZD for the Euro and 134.41 DZD for the US Dollar, illustrating a substantial gap between regulated and parallel exchange circuits.
