Algeria is set to reorganize its port logistics for vehicle imports before the end of the year. According to a new directive, private vehicle imports currently processed at the port of Mostaganem will be relocated to the port of Djen Djen in Jijel by January 1st. This shift aligns with presidential orders to dedicate the Mostaganem facility solely to state-owned enterprise imports, while reallocating private traffic to other coastal infrastructures. Djen Djen has been selected for its technical capacity to handle larger volumes and vessel traffic. The government aims to enhance port efficiency, decrease ship waiting times, and reduce operational costs by assigning specific roles to each port, thereby resolving congestion issues and streamlining logistics nationwide.
