Oran hosts the third edition of the Algerian Blouza Festival
The "Médiathèque" space in Oran hosted the third edition of the Algerian Blouza Festival, featuring participation from designers and artisans across several provinces. Organized by the "Youth Dream" association, the event showcased the cultural diversity and historical significance of traditional Algerian attire, highlighting various styles such as the Oranese, Tlemcenian, Mascaran, and Mostaganem versions. Bouchra Salhi, the Director of Culture and Arts for Oran, emphasized that the festival celebrates intangible heritage and noted the ministry's ongoing efforts to have the Oranese Blouza recognized by UNESCO. The gathering served as a vital platform for artisans to display their intricate embroidery and fabric-working skills, fostering a renewed interest in traditional dress among the younger generation.
