The wilaya of Aïn Defla has initiated a large-scale preventative operation to address potential flood risks ahead of the rainy season. Led by the Environment Directorate, the program brings together various entities, including public works, hydraulic services, civil protection, and civil society organizations, to secure local waterways. Efforts are focused on cleaning rainwater drainage networks and removing debris and waste from riverbeds in several municipalities such as El-Attaf, Khemis Miliana, and El-Abadia to ensure proper water flow. Beyond infrastructure maintenance, the campaign targets forest areas and public spaces to prevent fires and flooding. This field work is complemented by awareness-raising activities aimed at promoting a better understanding of natural disaster management and early warning systems among the population.
