The Minister of Energy confirmed to the National People's Assembly Finance Committee that there will be no increase in electricity tariffs in the 2027 draft budget. The sector has been allocated 123.4 billion dinars to support grid connections and renewable energy initiatives. Additionally, 4,000 new jobs are set to be created over the next three years, with priority given to the new provinces. The budget proposal includes extending VAT exemptions for electricity and gas distribution activities, as well as tax incentives for green hydrogen projects and reforestation. The government also updated collection methods for fixed electricity and gas consumption fees. Currently, Algeria has achieved a 99% electricity grid connection rate and an 80% gas coverage rate.
