Canada is accelerating permanent residency paths for skilled workers through new measures effective November 3. Candidates in high-wage roles, defined as positions paying at least 30% above the national median, will benefit from expedited processing. Ottawa has also suspended the requirement for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) for eligible positions. Additionally, bonus points will now be awarded to applicants in healthcare, transportation, trades, and research. These changes, which do not apply to Quebec, involve an automatic point recalculation for existing Express Entry profiles, leading to a temporary two-week pause on issuing new invitations.
