Turkey Leads as Top Importer of Algerian LNG

According to data from the Energy Research Unit, Algeria exported 1.57 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to seven international markets during the third quarter of 2026. Turkey maintained its lead as the primary importer, receiving 700,000 tons—accounting for 45% of total shipments—which represents an 11% increase over the previous year. France and Italy followed, importing 390,000 and 200,000 tons respectively. Notable growth was observed in Croatia, with imports surging 117% to 130,000 tons. Meanwhile, pipeline gas exports to Europe remained steady at 78 million cubic meters per day. These efforts coincide with Algeria's focus on expanding exploration and solar energy projects to reduce domestic reliance on natural gas for electricity production.
