Algeria and Niger strengthen media cooperation to combat fake news
The President of Niger's National Communication Observatory, Ibrahim Manzo Diallo, concluded a visit to Algeria held from October 20 to 24 at the invitation of the Independent National Audiovisual Regulatory Authority (ANIA). During the visit, which included meetings with Minister of Communication Mohamed Bouslimani, both nations pledged to establish a robust institutional partnership. The cooperation focuses on regulating the audiovisual and digital landscape to address challenges posed by cross-border media flows, specifically targeting the fight against misinformation and fake news. Key agreements include training programs for journalists and technicians, expertise sharing, and fostering connections between media outlets in both countries. Furthermore, the two sides discussed creating a continental network for audiovisual regulation and planned a follow-up visit by an Algerian delegation to Niamey to consolidate these efforts.
