In a Council of Ministers meeting held this Sunday, the President ordered seven immediate actions to monitor the prices and availability of essential consumer goods. A formal investigation, led by the Prime Minister, has been initiated into the imported meat market, targeting alleged monopolies and unjustified price hikes. The government will implement a new price ceiling system and profit margins for basic food items. Additionally, the President called for doubling inspection teams and establishing a digital database to detect price anomalies. Other key directives include a storage mechanism for local agricultural surplus, the prioritization of seawater desalination projects for Chlef, Mostaganem, and Tlemcen, and the immediate launch of the rail line project towards Tamanrasset.
