Zelensky Requests 70 Billion Euros in Extra European Aid

Addressing a summit in Brussels, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged European leaders to provide an additional 70 billion euros in financial support to strengthen his nation's defenses. With the total cost of the war expected to reach 155 billion euros next year, Zelensky emphasized the urgency of this funding. The appeal follows a period of strained relations with U.S. President Donald Trump, who has pushed for energy deals involving Russian exports to lower fuel prices, a move criticized by Kiev. European Union officials, including Ursula von der Leyen, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Ukraine and maintaining sanctions against Russia, even as some leaders expressed concerns regarding the current stability of the Western alliance.
