Esperance Sportive de Tunis faced a 1-0 away defeat against Libyan side Al-Swehly in the first leg of the CAF Champions League's second preliminary round. The decisive goal came from an Ayoub Ayed penalty in the 64th minute. The Tunisian club suffered a further blow as Algerian international Youcef Belaïli was sent off after the final whistle, following a second yellow card. Consequently, he will miss the return leg scheduled for October 24th at Hammadi-Agrebi Stadium in Rades. Esperance must now win by at least a two-goal margin to secure their place in the next round.
