After six previous adjournments, the trial regarding the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has commenced at the Sidi M'hamed economic and financial penal pole. Nineteen individuals, including former presidents Kheireddine Zetchi, Charaf-Eddine Amara, and Djahid Zefizef, are facing charges related to irregularities in management contracts, specifically those involving Adidas and a travel agency. The court is examining allegations of granting unjustified benefits to third parties in violation of legal regulations. Defense lawyers challenged the legitimacy of the financial expertise reports provided by the General Inspectorate of Finance, as well as the status of the Ministry of Sports and the Public Treasury as civil parties. The defendants, including former federation staff and board members, denied the accusations, arguing that all agreements were concluded according to internal hierarchical protocols and denying any intent to commit economic or financial crimes.
