The Ministry of Health has announced that the 2026-2027 seasonal influenza vaccination campaign will commence on October 27, with vaccine doses becoming available for collection from the Pasteur Institute starting October 21. Wilaya health departments have been instructed to ensure strict logistical readiness, including cold chain maintenance and staff mobilization. Priority groups for the vaccine include individuals aged 65 and older, patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart or lung diseases, and cancer, as well as pregnant women, healthcare workers, and pilgrims. Vaccination will take place in polyclinics and community health centers. Each designated vaccination team will include a physician to conduct medical screenings, an administrator for documentation, and nursing staff to perform the injections and monitor for side effects.
