Minister of Religious Affairs and Wakfs, Youcef Belmehdi, oversaw the inauguration of the 2026-2027 Quranic education season via videoconference in Algiers. The minister highlighted that this launch complements the national educational and academic calendar. Currently, over 27,000 facilities nationwide are committed to Quranic instruction, contributing to Algeria's strong performance in international competitions. Additionally, a conference is scheduled for November to discuss the digitalization of Quranic studies. The minister noted the significant reach of the Algerian Electronic Maqraa, which has attracted 7,000 registered participants and 200,000 global users, while 95 students successfully completed their Quran memorization during the previous season.
