Algeria: Travel agency dismantled over large-scale visa fraud
Authorities in Algiers have dismantled a fraud ring involving a travel agency whose managers promised fake Hajj and Umrah visas in exchange for significant sums of money. Following complaints from victims, the El Biar brigade for the fight against major crime launched an investigation that identified 64 individuals who had been defrauded. The total financial loss is estimated at over 11 billion and 365 million centimes. The two suspects involved were arrested and brought before the prosecutor at the Bir Mourad Raïs court.
