On Sunday, the criminal chamber of the Oran Court upheld a five-year prison sentence for an employee of a private firm in Bir El Djir. The individual, identified as 'R.N.', was found guilty of breaking and entering, involving goods valued at 250 million centimes. In early July, the culprit used a hammer to breach the wall of his manager's office to steal computer equipment and construction tools. The stolen items were sold at the Sidi El Bachir market. While the merchant who purchased the goods claimed he was unaware they were stolen, the defendant admitted to the theft during the trial, although he denied stealing any cash. Attributing his actions to alcohol dependency, the defendant's plea was rejected by the court, which emphasized the breach of trust and the premeditated nature of the crime in upholding the five-year sentence.
