The Sidi M’hamed economic and financial penal pole has issued its verdict in the "Remontada" case, involving tax fraud, money laundering, and illicit import practices. The main defendant, the manager of a clothing import company based in Beni Mered, was sentenced to five years in prison and a one-million dinar fine. The charges against the network, which operated six companies importing goods from Turkey and China, included document forgery and fiscal evasion. Despite the Public Treasury reporting losses of 3,000 billion dinars and the prosecution seeking up to ten years imprisonment, the court delivered lighter sentences and acquitted several of the 33 defendants involved in the case.
