Djanet Hosts the First International Rock Art Festival in Algeria

Minister of Culture and Arts, Malika Bendouda, inaugurated the first edition of the International Rock Art Festival in Djanet this Tuesday. The opening ceremony featured local officials, the director of the Tassili n’Ajjer National Park, and various researchers and students. An exhibition at the "Jebrine" museum showcases the evolution of rock art within the Tassili n’Ajjer, Tassili Hoggar, and other UNESCO-listed sites. The festival includes 15 international experts from 12 countries alongside 85 Algerian participants. The program features scientific forums, archaeological film screenings, and workshops aimed at protecting and documenting national rock heritage. The event seeks to establish an annual platform for expertise exchange, aiming to enhance the conservation of these sites and promote sustainable cultural tourism for future generations.
