Algerian Insurance Market Shows 3% Growth Driven by Automotive Sector
The Algerian insurance market experienced a 3% growth in the first half of 2026, with turnover surpassing 102.7 billion dinars. The automotive insurance branch saw significant momentum, reaching over 4.17 million contracts, an increase of 228,000, largely attributed to the resumption of vehicle imports under three years old and the expansion of distribution networks. While paid indemnities rose to 36.4 billion dinars, the sector faces challenges with a backlog of pending claims in property insurance, totaling over 126 billion dinars. Meanwhile, personal insurance and Takaful contributions also recorded growth compared to the same period in 2025.
