During the presentation of the 2027 Finance Bill to the National People's Assembly Finance Committee, Water Resources Minister Lounès Bouzegza announced a significant budget increase. Payment credits will reach nearly 700 billion DA, a 30% rise, while commitment authorizations jumped by 141% to 895 billion DA. The state aims to modernize national water infrastructure. Over 560 billion DA is earmarked for potable and industrial water, prioritizing the connection of desalination plants in Chlef, Mostaganem, and Tlemcen, alongside the construction of storage reservoirs. Other projects include drilling, dam rehabilitation, irrigation expansion, and flood protection for cities. Minister Bouzegza emphasized that these measures, aligned with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's directives, rely on seawater desalination and treated wastewater reuse to bolster the country's climate resilience.
