Algeria and Italy: Strengthening Economic Ties Through Industrial Partnership

Economic cooperation between Algeria and Italy continues to grow, with Algeria established as Rome's primary trade partner in Africa. Following a trade volume of 13 billion euros in 2025, both nations are shifting focus towards shared production and increasing local value addition. In the energy sector, Sonatrach and Eni are investing in the Berkine basin while partnering on methane emission reduction and petrochemical development. The industrial landscape is also evolving, highlighted by the rapid production growth of the Fiat plant in Tafraoui and the export of locally manufactured electric vehicle charging stations to Italy. Agricultural initiatives in Timimoun, combined with technical training programs in Sidi Bel Abbès, underscore the commitment to modernizing production. Additionally, the partnership spans digital infrastructure, such as the new submarine cable project with Sparkle, as both countries prioritize technology transfer and job creation.
