Algeria and South Africa advance strategic partnership to a new level

Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, stated that Algerian-South African relations are entering a vital phase of growth. Speaking in Algiers, Attaf noted that the December 2024 visit of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and the outcomes of the seventh session of the bilateral high commission have solidified a strategic partnership. The Minister emphasized that these ties are rooted in a shared history of struggle and solidarity. Prior to the committee session, Attaf held talks with his South African counterpart, Ronald Lamola, to review the implementation of bilateral commitments and ensure the delivery of tangible results. The two officials also exchanged views on regional and international issues, emphasizing the importance of coordination within the African Union and the United Nations, particularly regarding the Middle East and the Western Sahara issue.
