Algeria mandates national curriculum and Arabic language in private schools

A new executive decree published in the Official Gazette sets strict regulations for private educational institutions in Algeria. Schools are now required to exclusively follow national curricula approved by the Ministry of National Education, while foreign programs and preparation for non-national exams are prohibited. Arabic has been mandated as the language of instruction for all subjects and levels, excluding foreign languages. The decree also establishes strict oversight regarding funding and international partnerships, requiring prior ministerial approval. Furthermore, the conditions for accreditation have been tightened, and non-compliance with these new standards may lead to the revocation of the operating license and the permanent closure of the institution.
